Symbolism of the Original Sculpture:
"SPIRIT OF SACRED HEALING - MI GI SI' (EAGLE)"
"Mi Gi Si' " is the Native American Cheyenne and Chippewa/Ojibwa word for "Eagle."
"Spirit of Sacred Healing - Mi Gi Si' " represents the medicine of "Eagle."
Eagle medicine is the power of the Great Spirit, and is our connection to the Divine, yet allows for us to remain connected and balanced within the realm of the Earth. Eagle represents a state of grace achieved through hard work, understanding, and the trials of life's experiences. It is when we experience the highs and lows of life, and find trust in our connection with the Great Spirit, that Eagle Medicine is earned.

As a Fine Art and Consignment artist for over 30 years, I now work primarily in Semi-Relief Sand Sculpting, though am also known for my Oil Painting, Pencil, Pen & Ink, Hot Glass Sculpture or Lampworking, and Woodwork. I paint a wide range of subjects, but specialize in landscapes, oftentimes presenting my love of the mountains and the West through my scenes. Beyond the traditional landscape, many of my paintings tie history or symbolism together to create a story or emotional connection with the viewer.
I learned about the traditional Navajo sand art, commonly known as Sand Painting, from a Native co-worker when I was stationed in New Mexico in the 1990's. From there, I have developed my own signature sand sculpture style, which literally builds up upon the traditional technique. In respect for the origins of this art form, I have embarked upon my Native American Medicine Wheel series. In each sculpture I take an animal and attempt to help the viewer understand various Native American "medicines" through symbolism.
